1962

Establishment of Princess Muna College of Nursing under the Royal Medical Services to provide diploma-level nursing education.

 

1998

Princess Muna College of Nursing was transformed into a university college granting a bachelor’s degree in nursing and was affiliated with Mutah University through the continuous support of HRH.

 

2003

Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein was chosen as the Patron of Nursing and Midwifery in the Eastern Mediterranean region of the World Health Organization.

Attended the International Council of Nurses Conference in Geneva and addressed the audience about the Jordanian Nursing Council’s most important activities. 

Launched strategic directions to strengthen nursing and midwifery at the World Health Organization in Geneva.

Opened nursing activities at the Royal Medical Services Conference.

Launched the Princess Muna Award for Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery, recognizing distinguished achievements in nursing practice, leadership, education, and scientific research.

Delivered a keynote speech at the United Nations Economic and Social Council in the presence of global health ministers.

Spearheaded the launch of the first National Patient Safety Goals initiated by the Health Care Accreditation Council, and continued to sponsor their periodic updates and implementation.

Conducted an official visit to the Wills Eye Center and the Medical and Nursing Simulation Education Center at Jefferson University, USA.

Presided over the Sixth Global Forum for Nursing Leadership and the Fifth Meeting of the Global Tripartite of the International Council of Nursing in Geneva.

Chaired Ireland's inaugural nursing conference titled "Leadership through Partnership and Collaboration".

Appointed as Commissioner to the United Nations High-Level Commission on Health Employment and Economic Growth.

Chaired the Global Advisory Panel on the Future of Nursing (GAPFON) regional meeting, organized by Sigma Theta Tau International, held March 23-24, 2016, in the United Arab Emirates.

Presided over the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office's Expert Committee meeting to discuss strategic directions for nursing and midwifery, held March 25-26 in the United Arab Emirates.

Led the launch of the Global Nursing and Midwifery Strategy.

Chaired the Global Leaders Forum for Nursing and Midwifery (GCNMOs), jointly organized by the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and WHO, held May 20-21, 2016, in Geneva, Switzerland. Delivered the keynote address and participated in the Tripartite Meeting involving ICN, WHO, and the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), with representatives from 83 countries.

Participated in the Commissioners' meeting to endorse the final report on Health Employment and Economic Growth.

 

2018

Presided over and chaired the Health Policy Forum themed "Investing in the Nursing Workforce" during the joint celebration of Jordanian Nursing Day and World Health Day.

Chaired the Global Leaders Forum for Nursing and Midwifery (GCNMOs), organized by ICN, WHO, and ICM, and led the seventh tripartite meeting at the International Conference Center in Geneva, Switzerland.

Conducted a meeting with the chairman of the Nursing & Midwifery Association to address nurses' challenges, living conditions, and potential improvements in Jordan.

Served as patron for the First Regional Conference of the International Council of Nursing in Abu Dhabi.

Served as patron for the First International Regional Conference of the International Council of Midwifery in Dubai.

Attended the Triad Meeting of ICN, WHO, and ICM in Geneva, Switzerland, involving nursing regulators and Government Chief Nursing Officers.

 Launched the "Nursing Now" campaign in Geneva, which focused on:

  • Improving educational environments
  • Expanding professional development opportunities
  • Enhancing job status for nursing professionals
  • Promoting evidence-based nursing practices

Issued a letter of appreciation to nursing staff, midwives, doctors, and emergency services personnel, acknowledging their dedication to protecting the health and safety of Jordanian citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Received a prestigious award from the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General during the 73rd World Health Assembly virtual meeting, recognizing her role as Chair of the Council and Patron of Nursing and Midwifery in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, honoring her six decades of continuous support for nursing and midwifery, and acknowledging her outstanding contributions to international health initiatives.

Presided over the graduation ceremony for the twenty-first cohort of Princess Muna College of Nursing graduates.

 

2022

Hosted a delegation from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), including Dr. Akihiro Seita (Director of Health), Dr. Rami Habash (Hospital Director), Tamara Rahahleh (Head of Nursing and Midwifery Services), and the Secretary General of the Jordanian Nursing Council.

Served as patron for a ceremony honoring nurses who served during the COVID-19 pandemic, held at the Royal Rehabilitation Center, King Hussein Medical Center, Royal Medical Services. The event, organized by the International Women's Forum in collaboration with the Jordanian Nursing Council, coincided with International Women's Day and Mother's Day, and was attended by Brigadier General Dr. Youssef Zureikat, Director General of Royal Medical Services.

Presided over the inauguration of two new facilities: a simulation center and a computer examination and capacity building center. These facilities were established to meet the training and educational needs of healthcare professionals at local, regional, and international levels.

Guiding the Signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Romanian Nursing Association and the Jordanian Nursing Council to activate ways of cooperation between the two countries in the field of nursing and midwifery.

Participation in the World Summit on Nursing and Midwifery and Developing Research Initiative - Columbia University /Amman / Jordan.

Initiating the hourly rounding in hospitals of the medical services and Jordan University hospitals to make sure the communication is open and direct with patients and Nursing.

Chairing the scientific course on diabetes held by the Department of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology & Diabetes in the Royal Medical Services in cooperation with the British Royal College of physicians/London UK.

Chairing the graduation ceremony of the 18th Princess Muna College of Nursing graduates.

Chaired the Second Nursing Forum for Nursing Policies under the title of; New prospects for development of Health care: Enhancing the application of policies governing the professions of nursing and midwifery. Her Highness presented a set of recommendations during the forum and signed a commitment to activating all legislation and policies related to organizing Nursing and midwifery.

Patronage of the Change Day initiative launched by the Health Institutions Accreditation Council for the sixth year on respectively.

Received His Excellency the Hungarian Ambassador and the Hungarian Cultural Attaché in the Council, and during the meeting a discussion took place of Ways to activate joint cooperation between Jordan and Hungary in the field of nursing and midwifery and to facilitate the exchange of Nursing experiences between the two countries, and His Excellency the Ambassador spoke about the grants offered by the Hungarian government to Jordan through the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which includes many disciplines and for all levels of bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.

Chaired the graduation ceremony of the twentieth batch of Princess Muna College of Nursing graduates.

Patronage of the ceremony honoring nurses who worked in the face of the Corona pandemic, in the presence of a general Director of Royal Medical Services, Brigadier General Doctor Youssef Zureikat, on the occasion of International Women's Day and Mother's Day Which was launched by the International Women's Forum in cooperation with the Jordanian Nursing Council which was held at t the Rehabilitation Center, KHMC, Royal Medical Services.

Patronage of the opening of two centers of simulation, computer examination and capacity building in the Council, which were established in response to the training and educational needs of health professions’ workers in the locally and regionally and internationally.

ltrParticipated in the Fifth Global Forum for Human Resources for Health at WHO headquarters in Geneva (April 3-5, 2023), themed "Protecting and Investing in the Health Workforce," where she delivered a keynote address emphasizing the critical importance of WHO's role in global healthcare, urging nations to strengthen support for WHO and their healthcare workers, while highlighting the necessity of advancing health systems globally to achieve universal health coverage and ensure continued investment in the healthcare workforce.

ltrAccepted the role of Honorary Ambassador to Alzheimer's Disease International on behalf of Al Oun for Alzheimer's Patients Care Association for Jordan and the Middle East (June 29, 2023), reflecting her dedication to improving the lives of people with dementia and their caregivers.

ltrParticipated in the International Council of Nursing Congress in Montreal, Canada (July 1-5, 2023), alongside Princess Aisha Bint Al-Hussein, at an event attended by over 6,000 nursing professionals representing 133 countries. During the opening ceremony, delivered a powerful message emphasizing nursing as the cornerstone of the health sector's present and future, highlighting its essential role in maintaining global health security, and stressing that healthcare advancement requires nursing empowerment and representation at policy-making levels.

ltrServed as patron for the 7th International Conference of the Jordanian Association of Psychiatrists titled "The Future of Psychiatry and Mental Health in the Region," held in Amman, Jordan on September 5-6, 2023.
