About Directorate

Jordanian Nursing Council undertakes the role of recognizing the certificates of specialization in nursing and determining the framework of Advanced nursing specialization by the bylaw of professional nursing certificate No. (74) for the year 2006 and then through the system of specialization and professional classification in the profession of nursing and acceptance No. 85 of 2016, (4), (6) and (13) of the Jordanian Nursing Council Law and also the administrative management system of the Council for the year 2015 approved the formation of the Directorate of specialization within the organizational structure of the Council which includes three departments namely:

Specialization records department, examination department, data base department.

The goal of the Directorate of specialization to organize the work of the system of specialization and professional classification of the nursing profession to determine the professional levels through a theoretical and practical methodology for the development of

nursing and midwifery, It also aims to develop and evaluate the standards of general and advanced  specialization of nursing profession  and aims to supervise of specialized examinations based on competencies To provide the best specialized nursing competencies  and improve the level of specialized nursing care and to ensure the minimum requirements  for  safe nursing  practice for all individuals in addition to determine local  Specialized nursing needs to develop areas of  specializations in nursing and midwifery.    

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

  1. Implementing the Vision and Objectives of the Council
  2. Supervising the work of the departments and staff of the specialization departments
  3. Contribute to the establishment of a strategic plan and the annual work of the Directorate departments and follow-up the implementation
  4. Participate in the development of national health strategies and in the application and implementation of career-related plans and programs
  5. Participate in the development of human resources in nursing to raise the level of nursing performance in line with scientific and practical developments
  6. Participate in the development of the Council's plans, programs, activities and evaluation
  7. Contribute to the annual budget of the Council
  8. Participate in the development of the organizational structure of the Council
  9. Contribute to draft laws, regulations and instructions related to the Council
  10. Develop the necessary plans for the development and preparation of multiple specialization programs in nursing
  11. Define standards, competencies and scope of practice for nursing specialization
  12. Determine the necessary annual appointments and numbers of nurses to apply for the specialization exams
  13. Participate in holding the exams for the license exams of national registered nurses and foreign certificates in cooperation with institutions of higher education
  14. Participate in the development of the national strategy for continuing education and determine the requirements of continuing education for all nursing specialties
  15. Contribute to the holding of examinations for advanced nursing specialization and submit them to the Secretary General
  16. Review and   approve specialized diplomas in nursing based on the general framework of the Diploma in nursing / midwifery specialization
  17. Organize national records of specialization and professional classification of the nursing profession in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
  18. Issue certificates of specialization for nurses and midwives who meet the eligibility criteria and pass the examinations
